If one were trying to get a wiki started... where would one search for resources or information about wikis? I don't really know where to begin.
Were looking for free software ideally or something that we could use within a very simple corporate intranet (we don't have any CMS installed). Anyone know of anything?
Hi Roger - Wikipedia has a good list of free software packages. Although I would also suggest that if you're going to be creating a significant amount of content, a content management system might be a good idea.
It's always easier to start with the content management system in place, and then have a consistent way to manage your content. Otherwise, you start generating lots of stuff that managed in ad hoc, inconsistent ways, and you have to go back later and figure out how to manage it all. I hope that helps.

Our team has not really thought much about the amount of content we were going to generate, and I think based on your comments, we should give that some more thought. Perhaps we should be looking at a CMS with wiki capabilities instead of the other way round?

I have not used it yet, but it does have the ability to create private wikis and a social networking component.

While we're on the topic of wikis .... I have a list of libraries that use the del.icio.us social bookmarking tool. ( http://angelacw.wordpress.com/2007/06/04/delicious-libraries/ )
As more and more libraries are sending me their links, it's becoming high maintenance.
I was thinking of moving the list to a wiki, where the submitting libraries can add and edit their links accordingly.
Is there any other possible solutions other than a wiki?
I'm worried about losing ownership of my content, but at the same time I'd like to hand over content management to the submitting libraries. A wiki sounds like the best solution, but I'm wondering if there might be something else that fits my needs?
